The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league’s AFC, having been one of the founding members of the AFL as the Dallas Texans in 1960.

The Chiefs have been successful in bookends of their franchise. At the beginning of their existence they dominated the AFL, and won Super Bowl IV in 1969. In later years behind phenom Patrick Mahomes they have the beginnings of a dynasty, winning two AFC Championships and a Super Bowl in 2019.
