The Los Angeles Chargers are a professional American football team based in Los Angeles California. They play as a part of the National Football League, in the AFC, where they have been since their founding in 1960 as a part of the American Football League.

The Chargers were successful in the early days of the AFL, winning a championship title in 1963. Since then they have come close to winning a Super Bowl, first with Dan Fouts and the high-flying offenses of the 1970s, and later behind the record-breaking exploits of LaDainian Tomlinson. They have never won a title in the Super Bowl era.
